Where do you meet?
We meet Sundays with Sunday School at 9:45 am and preaching at 11:00 am as well as Bible study at 5:00 pm. We also meet on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm. All services take place at Hermitage Baptist Church. (814 Jefferson Davis Highway, Camden, SC, 29020)
What should I expect on my first visit?
For Sunday School we have greeters at all entrances who will be more than happy to assist you and your family to the appropriate classroom. We have classes for every age group.
For worship, we meet in the sanctuary. Feel free to sit anywhere you like, we don’t have assigned seating. We have a nursery available for the entire service. We also offer KidStyle Worship for children K-5 through 5th grade. The children dismiss from the main worship service at the offering time and are led by their leaders to a classroom down the hall in our education wing where they participate in an engaging worship experience.
We take up an offering and will pass offering plates for this purpose, but as our guests, do not feel obligated in any way to participate.
We finish each worship service with a time to respond, called an invitation. This is a time to reflect and pray about what we heard during the message and think about what God might want us to do in response. You may see some people respond by coming down to the front to speak to the pastor about a decision in their life or how they may take the next step in their relationship with the Lord. The pastor will be at the front door after the service dismisses if you have any further questions or have a specific prayer need.
Our goal is to help you lead your family to passionately follow Christ. Everything we do is with this purpose in mind.
What is your worship service like?
While we use modern technology and contemporary music, we like to blend the best of what is new with the great heritage of faith.
What is the preaching like?
While there are many different teaching and preaching styles, we believe the most important word is God’s word. Our teaching and preaching style is traditional and tends to focus on a particular passage each week.
What if I’m not perfect?
While we serve a perfect God, we know that we are imperfect. If you are looking for a perfect church, you need to keep looking because we are a church full of imperfect and broken people who have found grace and forgiveness.
What should I wear?
We don’t make a big deal about dress because we know while man looks at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart. At the same time, we understand that no one wants to show up and feel out of place. We find that most people dress “business casual” here at Hermitage.
Is there parking?
We have plenty of parking on both sides of the Sanctuary. Handicap parking is available to you in the East parking lot.
